Mahasamadhi of Gurudev Paramahamsa Hariharananadaji
Paramahamsa Hariharananda, born in 1907 in West Bengal, India, was a great realized master in Kriya Yoga. Popularly known as Gurudev among kriyavans, he is the founder of Kriya Yoga Institute. In 1948, Gurudev attained nirvikalpa samadhi – the breathless, pulseless state that is the long cherished goal of all spiritual aspirants. A direct disciple of Swami Shriyukteshwar and Paramahamsa Yogananda, the author of Autobiography of a Yogi, Gurudev was a unique spiritual preceptor who spread the teachings of Kriya Yoga in the East and West, and established ashrams in India, Europe and the United States. Well versed in scriptures, Gurudev has authored many books. He was a truly great, yet extremely humble soul with a deep compassion for humanity. He was an incarnation of love, compassion, and service.
Paramahamsa Hariharananda left his physical body on December 3, 2002 at the age of 95, but his legacy lives on through the love and service of his successor Paramahamsa Prajnanananda and every one of his devoted followers throughout the world.
